Engineering & Operations Reliability
Strength In Service
Long known for designing, constructing, managing and operating one of the safest and most reliable generating fleets in the nation, Tenaska’s Engineering & Operations Group put that experience to work to help customers and consumers overcome the challenges of 2021 and plan for a strong future.
The expertise of our engineering and operations team has resulted in a fleet that is built for success — literally — and a group that never loses sight of the long term, even as it manages through day-to-day demands and constraints.
Recognized by the federal government as “essential critical infrastructure workers,” almost all employees at Tenaska’s power plants continued to report to the workplace for every shift, generating reliable energy for our customers while operating under Tenaska Environmental Health and Safety policies designed to maintain a safe work environment and comply with all regulations.
Despite harsh winter conditions, supply chain constraints and transmission limitations, the team puts its adaptability and resilience to work, with higher reliability than industry averages. At the same time, Engineering & Operations provided support for new renewable projects and reached final project completion for wind farms that began commercial operations in 2020.

Engineering & Operations Highlights
The reputation of Tenaska’s Engineering & Operations Group for safe and reliable fleet operations remained well founded throughout 2021, with news of safety honors and community commitments.

Veteran Engineer Succession
After the retirement of Nick Borman, longtime leader of Engineering & Construction, engineer and industry veteran Justin Vala assumed leadership of the Engineering Group in 2021.
Impact To Date
The work of Tenaska’s Engineering & Operations group initiating and developing a large volume of renewable projects enables the company’s capital partners to make these resources a reality for their offtake customers.
I have had the privilege of working with Tenaska since 2019 as a community representative and landowner liaison for the Nobles 2 Project. In this role, I have had the opportunity to work with Tenaska’s engineering, operations, construction and post construction personnel — ALL of whom are top-notch professionals. As a representative of the project, as well as a landowner in the project, I have witnessed a boost in our local economy with annual tax revenue of more than $1.1 million to our local units of government, as well as a sure and stable income to landowners through lease payments. Tenaska has proven time and again to be a respected and responsible business partner from beginning to end. I anticipate, and look forward to, a long working relationship and open dialogue with Tenaska for years to come.JULIE BRAKE
